Network
The Network pillar underlies everything we do at Star 100. The group exists to create a platform for members to network for their personal benefit as well as the good of Ghana.
The backbone of the group is our networking meet-ups which, for Star 100 UK, take place in London on the last Friday of each month, with the exception of December.
About once a year, we hold a Meet The Neighbours session with another networking group. Our last session was in February 2018. We collaborated with the Kenyan network Tujijenge Pamoja Network on a debate, the motion of which was ‘Africa IS full of 'Sh!thole Countries’. Onyekachi Wambu, Executive Director of AFFORD and Yaw Mante, Star 100 member and Investment Associate at the Omidyar Network, proposed the motion. Journalist and broadcaster Tetteh Kofi (pictured below) and Umutoni Thuku-Benzinge, TPN member and columnist for the Informer East Africa newspaper, opposed it.
We also hold special events. In June 2014, a small group of members went to Ascot. In the summer of 2012 we held a treasure hunt around the centre of London. In December 2009, to celebrate the group's 5th anniversary, we held a Charity Fundraiser Dinner Dance in support of AfriKids.
